Nationally televised nature
photographer, H. Steve Shoemaker, invites
you into his world. He belongs to a world
comprised of mountains, forests, rivers and
wildlife. In this environment he has spent
the last twenty years observing, learning,
and photographing the natural world. He has
been recognized nationally, regionally, and
locally for his vision. Featured on TNN's
"Unspoiled Country", his name is now known
to millions of Americans. He would like to
add one more name to that list. Yours. So
drop by, give him a call, come and get to
know this man who loves nature and the God
who made it.
If you wanted to photograph
the world's greatest scenery, where would
you go? Canada, the American West, South
America, the Alps. Nature photographer Steve
Shoemaker's travels have carried him to all
these locales. His passion to capture the
world's great landscapes and it's diverse
wildlife on film fires his desire to journey
the globe. However, it is in his own
backyard, where his residence literally
adjoins the Great Smoky Mountain National
Park, that he seems to get his greatest
pleasure and do his best work. His original
vision equips him to uniquely define the
Smoky mountain experience photographically.
He likes to say that he sees the Smokies
through the eyes of a child. With the fresh
vision of youth Steve believes a walk in or
a drive through these mountains suddenly
translates into adventure. Using a childlike
perspective, the drive from Gatlinburg to
Cherokee takes on a new meaning. Instead of
miles of asphalt over rumpled ridges, the
tour becomes a journey into a deep, grand
forest unlike any on this continent in its
diversity and rich beauty. To the child in
us this forest beckons us to leave the car
behind, step into its enchantment, smell the
perfume of the hemlock and the balsam,
follow the path of the bear and the deer,
and define what stirs our souls. As God
speaks through Job, "Ask the animals, and
they will teach you, or the birds of the
air, and they will tell you; or speak to the
earth, and it teach you, or let the fish of
the sea inform you." Job 12:7-8. It is my
hope that viewing these glimpses of nature's
wonders will both inform and inspire you.
May these magic moments captured on film
warm your heart and remind you that
"THE EARTH IS THE
LORD'S AND EVERYTHING IN IT." PSALM 24:1

WHERE THE ROCKIES MEET
THE SMOKIES
Where do the Rockies meet the Smokies? Some
of our customers pose this question from
time to time. Since both of these great
mountain ranges generally run north to
south, that is certainly a valid question in
a geographical context. However, when
speaking in the context of our hearts the
linkage is more evident. We could just as
easily say where young meets old, where high
meets low, where dry meets wet. I am sure
you get my drift, continental that is. Both
of these great mountain systems were, at
least in part’ the product of continents
colliding and the uplifting landmasses
birthing mountains. To most of us we find
that interesting but perhaps a little less
than earthshaking. We will leave the geology
to the geologists. From a photographer’s
perspective these exquisitely varied and
distinct ranges are a beautiful study in
contrast. Whether it is the granite laden ,
glacier scoured cirques of the Rockies or
mysterious grassy balds of the Smokies,
these two worlds offer a dramatically
different set of photographic subjects. It
is this difference that draws our attention
and compels our passion . Mountain Visions
Gallery is born artistically from that
passion. We will bring to your home and your
life these two wonderful worlds through my
photography, Terri’s décor and our diverse
line of products reflecting our love for the
nature of these majestic mountains and the
God who made them. So we invite you to come
along and join our exploration we welcome
